The playable numbers given above are the break-even points. Wait for the numbers to be higher for a bigger profit. If the game runs poorly (no good line hits or bonuses), then it is definitely still possible to lose money on these plays. Just remember that if you log enough sessions, you should come out ahead in the long run.
I recommend memorizing the playable numbers for the bottom progressives since those are what you will be chasing the vast majority of the time. The meter needs to be at least 95% to be profitable, so a quick way to do the math is to take 10% of the progressive, cut it in half, and then subtract that from the MHB amount. For example, 10% of 60 is 6, cut that in half to get 3, then subtract that from the initial 60 to get the playable number of 57.
The top (largest) progressive is something that you will rarely (if ever) chase. It will lock you up for many hours and it’s just not super profitable (especially on the lower bet levels) unless you find it extremely high. I’ve seen other APs spend hours chasing the $200 on a $0.50 bet. They might have walked away with a $10 profit. That said, it could still be good for card building purposes.
The progressives can sometimes hit early, but they usually go to the very end. During each spin, the bottom (small) progressive has a 1 in 456 chance of hitting, the middle (medium) has a 1 in 3,829 chance of hitting and the top (large) has a 1 in 58,257 chance of hitting.
The progressive meters also increase during the free games, so landing the bonuses can still be a big help, even if you don’t win much.
Each of these machines contain two separate games—only the “deluxe” versions have the MHBs. If you don’t see the progressives, tap the “Switch Games” button in the lower left of the screen to switch to the deluxe version.
It’s possible to check all the progressives without having to bet (or even put money in the machine). Simply tap where it says “Bet Per Line” directly on the touchscreen to cycle through the bet levels.
Money Storm Deluxe has obnoxious sound effects, so this is a game you’re definitely going to want to turn down the volume on.
