Wu Jin Pen: Fuyu Phoenix / Panda Advantage Play Strategy

Wu Jin Pen features a bowl at the top of the screen with a spin counter on it. The spin counter starts at five and has a chance of incrementing by one whenever coin symbols land on the reels. A hold & spin feature can randomly be triggered, with the number in the spin counter being the number of spins you get in the feature. When the hold & spin feature is initially triggered, it can unlock additional bowls from top to bottom (More Credits, Multiplier, Jackpots and Double Reels), which make the bonus more lucrative.

• The bonus feature is extremely high variance. If you trigger the feature with just the top bowl (spins) unlocked, then you will almost always take a loss. The real money is when you unlock all five bowls at once (the Double Reels is by far the most important), which will happen if you log enough sessions.

• Despite the high variance, this is still a very lucrative AP machine. The base game return is weak, and there aren’t any other free games features or jackpot pick bonuses, so most of the payout is devoted to the bonus feature. And entering the bonus with an above average number of accumulated spins offers a significant advantage.

• Unlocking the More Credits bowl will randomly add additional credit prizes to the accumulated coins. Unlocking the Multiplier bowl will add a random multiplier from 2x up to 5x to all credit prizes. Unlocking the Jackpot bowl can add the grand, mega, major, minor or mini jackpots (these do not get multiplied by the multiplier).

• After the bonus has started, a special animation can occur and unlock one additional bowl level.

• The spin counter in the bowl gets a flame circling it when it reaches 15. I don’t think that signifies anything of importance about the underlying math.

• Some versions of this game include a buy-a-bonus feature. The feature triggers with a random number of spins, so there isn’t any advantage to playing it.

• When this game is first installed, all of the bet levels start with either 8 or 10 spins, rather than the reset value of 5...
