Wheel of Fortune High Roller Advantage Play Strategy

Manufacturer: IGT

How the advantage works

Wheel of Fortune High Roller features reels that expand in height whenever a High Roller symbol lands. The reels begin at three symbols tall and can reach a maximum height of eight symbols. When a High Roller symbol lands on a reel that is eight symbols tall, the wheel spin award above that reel is triggered. The wheel spin awards are either multi-pointer wheels, multiplier wheels or question mark wheels (which feature between two and five pointers combined with a multiplier between 2x and 5x).

Additional notes on Wheel of Fortune High Roller

  • A reel that has a High Roller symbol at the very top (touching the wheel) will reset back to three symbols tall on the next spin, so be sure not to play those.

  • The question mark wheels are the most valuable. They contain between two and five pointers, combined with a multiplier between 2x and 5x. The values skew towards the bottom end of that range, so it is not entirely random. In my calculations, I value them to be the equivalent of a 6x multiplier or a 6-pointer wheel (these don’t exist, but that is their relative value). Getting a 5-pointer wheel with a 5x multiplier is rare.

  • This game is fairly high variance, so don’t expect to come out ahead every single time. If the question mark wheel reveals a 2-pointer wheel with a 2x multiplier, then you have a good chance of losing money on the play. But the times you get a better wheel (like a 4-pointer wheel with a 4x multiplier) will more than make up for your losses. You also need to factor in getting the occasional free games and jackpot wheel bonuses as well.

  • The question mark wheel often gives a 2-pointer wheel with a 2x multiplier. So the 5-pointer wheel or 5x wheel will often give better payouts. But over the long run, question marks are still the best wheels.

  • A wheel with more wheel pointers has lower variance compared to an equivalent multiplier wheel.

  • This is an excellent game for building points on your card, especially when you are chasing multiple wheels that are more than one away.

  • Unlike the similar game Hexbreaker, playing based on the ways alone is not worth it. Even though the game pays both left-to-right and right-to-left like Hex, the line hits just aren’t as lucrative, even when the middle reel is high. The reels expand quickly and more of the game’s return is devoted to the wheel spins.

  • The free games symbols in reels two, three and four don’t need to fit perfectly like they do in Hexbreaker—even partial free games symbols still count. The mechanics of the free games are very similar to Hex, with the reels expanding downwards until one of the wheel awards below are triggered.

  • This is a huge machine that is very loud, so it can be difficult to check without drawing a lot of attention, even when the volume is down.

  • Wheel of Fortune High Roller has an RTP that ranges from...
