Block Bonanza: Hawaii / Rio Advantage Play Strategy

Block Bonanza features colored blocks with credit values in them located above the reels. The blocks correspond to the matching positions on the reels below. So the block in the top left matches up with the top of the first reel. When a dollar symbol lands in each of the first three reels, the player is awarded the credit value of the corresponding block above. The advantage lies in playing when the credit values of the blocks are much higher than usual.

• Block Bonanza is a common game in casinos and most hustlers are unaware of it.

• It can be difficult to land the three dollar symbols needed to trigger the block wins, and even if you do trigger the blocks, there is no guarantee you will get the block you are chasing. As such, the game has extremely high variance.

• Don’t bother doing the math to determine if something is a play if the board is all blue and purple blocks. Look for a yellow block or multiple red and green blocks before adding up the numbers.

• The order of block values from smallest to largest is purple, blue, red, green and yellow.

• The blue diamond dollar symbols count as regular dollar symbols for triggering the block wins, but they also boost the value of the corresponding block win by a random amount.

• The blocks disappear after you win them and are replaced by new blocks that fall down from the top.

• All of the blocks will drop down one row after a while, and the bottom ones will move off screen completely. Stop playing if the numbers are no longer in your favor.

• A lot of your block wins will come from the free games bonus, which comes up fairly frequently.

• Block Bonanza comes in two themes—Hawaii and Rio. They differ in how the free games bonus works. In the Hawaii version, all of the surfer symbols count as dollar symbols. In the Rio version, the game simply adds more dollar symbols to the reels. The end result is the same in that it makes the block wins more likely to hit during the bonus games.
